Digitalgovernment.com Selects CrownPeak Technology
In Complementary Government Market Win, Company Gains Nod from NIC for Rapid CMS Deployment
Marina Del Rey, CA (October 28, 2002) —
CrownPeak Technology, the premier hosted content management service, today announced that the Digital Government Institute (DGI) has selected its Advantage CMS™ Content Management System to automate and streamline the management of content for its online information portalwww.digitalgovernment.com.
At the same time, the company announced that NIC (Nasdaq: EGOV), the country's leading provider of outsourced official government Web sites for states, counties, and cities, has deployed Advantage CMS for a strategic corporate communications application. Implemented in just three weeks, the CrownPeak system has enabled non-technical business users to create new Web site sections with a single click, at www.nicusa.com.
Digitalgovernment.com is the online portal for DGI, which was formed to serve government employees responsible for purchasing or implementing information technology. DGI operates as an educational organization that produces business-case focused training for government executives, managers and policy makers considering acquiring or better implementing IT to improve service delivery.
In addition to deploying Advantage CMS, the digitalgovernment.com site will be restructured and re-launched, enabling more information to be made accessible to even non-technical workers.
"After looking at the market we found CrownPeak's Advantage CMS was the best solution available for our needs," said Christina Nelson, President, Digital Government Institute. "We needed a powerful system that would be available to our content authors, many of whom are off-site. We were looking for the most cost-effective, easiest to use CMS, and we found all of these things in Advantage CMS."
"Digitalgovernment.com is an ideal implementation for outsourced content management," said Jim Howard, CEO, CrownPeak Technology. "DGI's mission is to educate government technology decision-makers on how to use information technology in the most cost-effective manner possible. In addition to providing digitalgovernment.com with the CMS infrastructure it requires, we're also in position to share our knowledge and expertise in IT with this important constituency."
"Our experience with NIC underscores the enormous value of a hosted CMS, especially in empowering non-technical users to gain control over site content," Howard said. "That we were up and running in substantially less than a month with each of these projects speaks to our ability to dramatically reduce costs associated with implementation and administration."
"For both DGI and NICUSA, the speed, power, and savings represented in our solution apply directly to their businesses and to the business of running government. Our ability to manage compliance with accessibility standards, meet state and federal guidelines on versioning and archives, and our superior user experience are what has made us such a great choice for government - and the companies that serve government."
NIC: Rapid Deployment, Easy Expansion
At NIC, Advantage CMS serves as the vehicle for the company to convey its investor relations content, press releases, and government partner profiles. With Advantage CMS, NIC is now freed of any limits on the number and type of sections to the Web site, and even non-technical users can create new sections with ease.
"CrownPeak provided easy-to-use tools that are helping us manage our corporate Web site more efficiently," said Chris Neff, Director of Integrated Marketing for NIC. "The input templates are well-designed and provide a great deal of flexibility without compromising the quality of content or our brand messaging. And CrownPeak provided these capabilities almost overnight, which was a great benefit for NIC."
NIC developed the nation's first electronic government services for the state of Kansas in 1991. Since then, NIC has been building and managing online services that simplify how governments, businesses, and citizens exchange information. NIC maintains long-term outsourcing contracts with 17 states and 8 local governments, and its solutions currently support government partners in 30 states.
NIC has developed a library of more than 400 unique eGovernment applications that processed more than 52 million transactions in 2001. NIC's proprietary technology makes renewing a driver's license, obtaining a building permit, paying taxes, or filing Uniform Commercial Code documents as easy as checking e-mail. NIC is the world's only publicly held company that focuses exclusively on serving the eGovernment market.
Earlier this year, in an effort to highlight the potential of outsourced content management as an affordable and effective way to assist cost-sensitive organizations, CrownPeak developed tailored content management systems for the State of Virginia (www.myvirginia.org). and two major educational and non-profit entities.
CrownPeak developed a unified events calendaring system for the University of Southern California (USC) that dramatically and economically simplified the events calendar updating process. Similarly, the company overhauled an extensive resource library for LISC, the Local Initiatives Support Corporation, a national non-profit agency focuses on neighborhood redevelopment.
CrownPeak Technology's Advantage CMS provides all the powerful features of a world-class CMS at a fraction of the cost and time required by packaged solutions. Its easy-to-use Web interfaces enable users to maintain and edit content in any format as text, images, movies or any hybrid medium. The administrative interfaces and application code are hosted on high-availability servers, where CrownPeak backs up, maintains and extends the system. Advantage CMS is highly inter-operable with other systems and applications. Connection options available to developers include SOAP, XML, FTP, HTTP, SMTP and ODBC.
