CrownPeak Launches Environmental
Initiative
to Help Businesses
Become Carbon Neutral
EnviroNeutral.org, a new web site managed by
CrownPeak provides an interactive model for measuring an organization’s carbon
output
Los Angeles, CA – April 22, 2007 –
CrownPeak (www.crownpeak.com), the market leader in on-demand web site software,
today announced that it is "carbon neutral" and has launched an online
initiative at www.EnviroNeutral.org to help other companies do the same.
CrownPeak makes this announcement
today in celebration of Earth Day 2008, and its support of the Earth Day Network
(www.earthday.net), an organization that
works year-round to broaden the environmental movement through education,
programs and partnerships that affect change at the local, national and
international level.
CrownPeak is very proud to announce
that coming into 2008, it has completed a company wide plan to reduce its
carbon-emission footprint on the earth - and pledged to be a carbon neutral
company going forward.
"Our responsibility to the
technology community we are in, and the customers we serve, goes far beyond
producing innovative technology products and services," said Jim Howard, CEO of
CrownPeak. "This initiative is a continuation of our mission at CrownPeak that
seeks to continually improve the environment of the world in which we live."
To this end, CrownPeak is also
proud to have completed a simple interactive model in a Microsoft Excel
Spreadsheet that can be utilized in any small or medium-sized business. This model calculates a company's total
carbon output by simply answering a few questions. The company can use this spreadsheet to
calculate its own carbon footprint.
In traditional CrownPeak style, this model is designed to be as
easy-to-use as possible for non-technical people to generate an overview of
their own organization's carbon output.
Launching
EnviroNeutral.Org
As part of this initiative,
CrownPeak is also proud to announce the launch of EnviroNeutral.org, a web site
that CrownPeak created and manages at its own expense. Information about becoming carbon
neutral, as well as the interactive model is available on this web site. The model can be downloaded for free
under a Creative Commons open source license and used or modified as the
organization sees fit.
Jim Howard, CEO of CrownPeak,
states "Climate change is certainly one of the largest challenges we face, and
one that certainly requires resourcefulness on the part of corporate
leaders. As an innovative
technology company, it is our responsibility to contribute what we can to this
challenge. This web site and this model are small steps in our effort to help
the environment."
The goal for EnviroNeutral.org is
to become an ongoing resource for organizations to learn about becoming
environmentally sensitive. Future
plans are for a community and the ability for other organizations to contribute
content and/or improvements upon the model.
